Cezanne's palette is easily identifiable. The richness of the earth tones, the quality of the
blues, the luminoscity of the greens. His deft hand with color is clear in the browns he chooses
to use, as evidenced in the two images showcased in this site. His rich oranges and yellows are
matched by the quality of the browns. These are not murky or muddy, but natural browns, browns
that breath.
The colors of his fruit are so natural. His green pears are mottled with crunchiness; his grapes are
plump with juice. It is his apples, however, that are luminescent with reds and oranges and
deep brown shadows. Surely, these are among the most beautiful things ever painted.
